Countdown's better but still scattershot. Fables is great, as always.
Countdown 46 - Jimmy looks for answers abut his dream. Mary tests her new powers. Piper gets socialist for the first time in years and has it out with Mirror Master. And Jason knows too much. The script was about as good as any we've seen in this series, and the scenes were interesting. But there's still too much going on at once, and it all seems random. Nonetheless, just to see Jimmy hold his own with the long-forgotten Sleez (from Byrne's run on Superman, so not all is lost from that era) and to hear Piper return to the radicalism Bill Loebs gave him in the late 80s is worth my time. Good art by Jesus Saiz, too. Maybe there's hope for this book.
Fables 62 - Lancelot's story, and his role in Ambrose's tale, come into focus. Prince Charming offers a deal to Hansel and the Adversary. Frau Tottenkinder knows more than she's saying. And Ambrose moves towards his destiny. Oh, and if you think I'm doing any of this justice, forget it. It's hard to write a review for this series when it's always good and I never want to tell you too much. As always, all I can say is, "Read it!"
