Fables will be reviewed after I read it - always save the best for last.
Countdown 50 - Meh of the same. We follow Jimmy Olsen, Mary Marvel, and the Rogues, to little purpose in this installment by Palmiotti and Gray. Oh, there is a bit with Jimmy and the Joker that is mildly interesting. But the rest? Dull. Never mind that Jimmy knows Jason Todd and Dick Grayson were Robins! Huh? What's more, things here apparently connect with other DC comics, in a way that I am not sure what's happening. Two weeks in, and I really miss the self-contained world of 52. I may not have the patience to give this two months.
Gargoyles 4 - Come and see what the well-dressed gargoyle is wearing for Halloween! See Thailog attack! See the amazing awkwardness of Elisa and Goliath and their dates! See Owen Burnett in action! Much fun to be had, in this well paced and smart story.
Batman 665 - The solicitation promised that this issue would reveal what happened to Joe Chill in the new continuity. Nope. Ain't here at all. And I only paid for this because I wanted to see that. However, this is a much better issue than the last, with a beaten, and introspective, Batman pondering just what beat him up last issue, and wondering what that weird dream means. It's still a bit odd, and the notion of Bruce Wayne dating seems weird, too, but Morrison has more command over his oddness this time around.
