As we count down to tonight's very harrowing-looking episode of Heroes, here are a couple of behind-the scenes facts...

Wondering about who painted Sylar's version of "President Petrelli"? It wasn't Tim Sale, the artist behind Isaac, obviously. Instead, the producers found another big-name comic book artist, Marvel's Alex Maleev (best known for his run on Daredevil). This show' coolness keeps growing.

But were you saddened at the likelihood that with the death of Isaac, we would lose those wonderful Tim Sale paintings? Seems that Peter didn't just absorb Isaac's powers, but also his skills (though we haven't seen that yet). In other words, Tim Sale's job is safe, and we can enjoy his take on the cast a while longer.

Have you seen NBC's Heroes store? Most of the merchandise is pretty much what you would expect, but some of it is really cool, like Vote Petrelli buttons and a cap with Hiro from the Ninth Wonder comic. I expect to see more of this stuff, since NBC has done a great job promoting the show and tapping into fandom.

You know - one of the reasons I started reading Daredevil was because of Alex Maleev...

This is good news.

...Hunh. And here one of the minor things I've liked about the show -- although Shati had to point it out to me first -- is that it's seemed pretty clear that Peter did not absorb Isaac's skills. That he draws stick figures, and paints with what looked to me, in that one corner of the painting, to be a distinct and significantly clumsier style.
