Here's a weird one...

Israel's Shas Party, which represents rigorously devout Sephardic Jews in that nation's political scheme of things, apparently tokk the tune of "La Vida Loca" and wrote its own words of it as part of advertising prior to next week's elections. The words are apparently in Hebrew and promote the Shas way of life. The ad has since been pulled from the air as there was a question of copyrights.

But now I'm really curious. I wonder what they did. I'd love to find the lyrics, and see if they scan. Or make any sense once translated. So if anyone has any ideas where to find this information, please let me know.

In the meantime, here's link to an AP article on this:

A minor correction - it wasn't "Living La Vida Loca" but "Copa de la Vida", the song he did for the World Cup that year (the one whose chorus goes like, "Here we go, Ole Ole Ole").

Didn't help them

Interestingly enough, the Shas Party lost seats in Israel's recent election. I wonder how often the ANSWER/Noam Chomsky types mention that there are Arabs in the Kinesset. Arabs can vote in the US and Israel, but not in Syria, Jordan, or Saudi Arabia. They can vote in Iraq as long as they vote "correctly".

I was curious. What does Likkud mean? For some reason, I'm thinkig it's the Jewish equivalent to the Christian Democratic Parties in Europe, but I honestly don't know. I'll e-mail you soon.

Hopefully I haven't mis-spelled anything too badly :)
