What about 52, I hear you asking. (Yes, you, M.B. of Brookline, MA!) Well, some idiot at Diamond forgot to put the copies of it due to my shop into the box! So don't blame DC. DC got it out, as always. But Diamond did what Diamond does best. (Oddly, they didn't screw up with Civil War, which is the norm.) I should have it tomorrow.

The Spirit 3 - The origin of the Spirit! Updated, of course, but essentially the same. Only as seen through the eyes of the four main characters, and perhaps also from those of the Octopus, the Spirit's archenemy. The art is stellar, of course, but so is the story. At last the Spirit comes into his own in his own series, as do the Dolans and Ebony. Oh, and Cooke seems to be setting up something big as well. While I still have some doubts about this comic, they are fast melting away.

The Brave and the Bold 1 - DC's original team-up book returns, with Mark Waid's words and George Perez' art, and with Batman and Hal Jordan trying to solve a strange sci-fi mystery. Entertaining, with a good bit of action, smart dialogue, and both heroes more or less themselves. Sort of. Waid totally ignores the tensions between Bats and Hal, which might be a relief to older readers who want things the way they were, but is still a bit sloppy. The art is good, but it's not all that thrilling. After 30 years, is is safe to say that George Perez artwork always looks like George Perez artwork, and that maybe it's not so exciting anymore? I'll give this a couple of months to see where it goes, but it doesn't feel like a must-read yet.
