So I've watched a few trailers for upcoming films.
Harry Potter 5 - Didn't do much for me. Except a scene of HP flying through London. Which I'm told is not in the book. Note, however, that this film is basically an ad for the final book, which comes out a week after the film.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - Didn't see the first FF film, and probably won't see this one. But the idea that the Galactus Saga, the high point of Marvel in the 60s, is serving as inspiration for this film is nice to see. And the trailer is fun to watch, as it's simply a scene featuring Johnny Strom chasing the Surfer through Manhattan and the Holland Tunnel. At least the effects are pretty.
The Simpsons Movie - The good news? It looks like Mr. Burns will play a major role. The bad? There is a sense that even with 90 minutes and what might be a summer movie-sized plot, it's still operating at the same level of humor as the series has this decade. I wish this had been made ten years ago, when the show was still fresh. Still, I will lay heavy odds that this will be funny enough to justify seeing.
Pirates 3 - The trailer is...well, you probably have noticed this, too. There is apparently no trailer yet. The film opens before the three I mention above, on May 25. Which is very odd. OK, we all know that Pirates 3 needs no promotion at this point beyond TV ads in May just to let us know it's coming. I would even go so far as to say it will be the big hit for summer, despite Spidey and Harry and Homer. But to not have a trailer yet? That's unheard of these days. Anyone hear anything about this?

He says, "It's too silly to be taken seriously, but not silly enough to be funny."
