Things We Missed
Feb. 8th, 2007 09:35 amSo while we out of the country we missed:
1. National Gorilla Suit Day - January 31. Since I didn't see any gorilla suits, I'll assume they don't observe it in the UK. Or is there another date for Royal Gorilla Suit Day?
2. Groundhog Day - February 2. So, did Puxsatawny Phil see his shadow? We will have six weeks of winter?
3. Super Bowl Sunday - February 4. OK, I didn't really miss it. They show it in the UK, on SkyOne, with the American feed for the most part. I watched the first quarter in the company of a few Americans (most notably happy Colts fan Bill Sutton) and two Brits who follow the sport (one of whom explained rugby to me earlier).
But I did miss the ads. Which is the real reason I'm posting. I know that I can probably find all of them on Google Video, but if anyone can recommend the best of the pack, I would appreciate it.
4. Two episodes of Veronica Mars and one ep each of Supernatural and Heroes. Strangely, the wall switch we never turn off (as it shuts the power to the TV and VCR) was switched off when we left, and nothing taped. Heroes we did see online - a good episode but the stuff with Hiro and his family really didn't serve any purpose - but my effort to download Supernatural failed due to disc space limits, and I suspect the same might happen for VMars. ETA:So I am asking you to spoil me. What did we miss on these shows? Will we be lost when we tune in next time? Are Veronica and Logan back together still or did they break up again? And was there any follow-up to the stunning ending of the SN from two weeks back? Thanks in advance for the data. Hold off on those spoilers, as it looks like the CW has these episodes on its website. Which I can't get to work here, but if it does at home, we are in good shape after all.
ETA: 5. Joss Whedon qutting the Wonder Woman movie and David Goyer quitting the Flash movie, pretty much for the same reasons (money and the direction of the story). From what I read, I think that the marginal success of the high budget Superman Returns has scared Warner Bros into taking the low-bugdet route we've seen with Marvel films like Daredevil and Fantastic Four. Why else would they hire the man who directed A Night at the Museum to direct a Flash film? Why else would you let the man who wrote Batman Begins and the man behind Buffy go?
