1. It's time to play "What Is Causing Our DSL Troubles?" Last Wednesday, it was Verizon. Thursday, it was something that needed a service call. Saturday night, it was a line problem that maybe could be fixed without a service call. Today, it might be the phone cord connecting the modem to the wall jack.
I wish they would make up their minds.
2. That said, thanks to a suggestion made by
the_croupier, I found a message board site called www.dslreports.com. One of its forums is actually a Verizon-approved and Verizon-used link straight to actual technical support people. I'm not really sure this will help in the end, but it's good to see that Verizon makes its people available to those of us savvy enough to use the Net this way.
3. As for our DSL, it's coming and going, but the times it works are lasting a lot longer. For now.
4. Meanwhile, it's seven work days and counting till the UK trip, and it looks like I might actually get some work done this week.
5. Yes, that was a great game between Indy and New England last night. But I can't say that I'm upset to be in the UK on Super Bowl Sunday. Neither the Bears or the Colts are the kind of team to grab me. Besides, I think it will be a blowout in the Colts' favor.
6. Watched Episode III and its deleted scenes. Somewhere out there, there is a version of this film less about Darth Vader's rise and more about Amidala's fall, a less exciting, possibly more thoughtful film. One which could have been interesting, but that Lucas would never have been the man to direct. Still, the deleted scenes offer a glimpse of how much Lucas wanted to do more than just these rather disposable works.
I wish they would make up their minds.
