Spoilers!
This trip down memory lane was quite good, though it followed the usual pattern. Hiro's story was the most interesting, the Bennett family's tale a close second, and Niki/Jessica's tale probably the most hackneyed. Plus we get a great and distrubing origin for Sylar, and a much better sense of who Nathan is (though not why he decided to run for Congress). I do wonder why isaac wasn't included, though, when we had time even for Eden.
I am glad that we got all of this in one episode. I love the flashbacks on Lost, but this show isn't that one, and I'm glad it's establishing its own voice and style. I think we might get one or two more flashbacks, though, to fill in the blanks about Mohinder's sister and about Claire's mother.
But here's the big question: Sylar being a second generation watchmaker? With this story counting towards a Big Boom? Am I seeing Watchmen homages? If there's one comic thaat even non-fans are likely to have read, it's that one. But it wouldn't fit the style of the writers to do that. Still, it would be cool.

Date: Nov. 28th, 2006 02:47 pm (UTC)As for Hiro's story, I've been wondering how his time travel powers would work. Apparently he can't change the past...and yet he did. Are we in a new timeline, where the waitress met him for the first time twice? My theory is that perhaps she knew enough not to tell Hiro and Ando when she finally meets them that she had met Hiro before. But then why wouldn't others in the restaurant recognize Hiro?
My head hurts. :-)

Indeed, there is an interview with Masi Oka (Hiro) where he says he's heard fans debating whether the Heroes cosmology is like that of DC - one timeline - or Marvel - many timelines. (Never mind that it's clear that DC's cosmology is not so clear, and never has been.)
