First off, in case you are wondering, I found the second episode of Heroes to be as meh as the first, but still showing promise. And the season premiere of Veronica Mars was okay, but not the show's best.

Anyway, on the comics...

52, Week Twenty-Two - In Metropolis, Luthor fumes about Supernova, whom he thinks is Superman. And we meet the new Super-Chief, a descendant of a very obscure DC western hero but not a nice guy himself. Elsewhere, Doc Magnus has his own problems and DC retcons the controversial Metal Men miniseries of the 90s into a delusion.

The parts of the book featuring Lex were amazing. The parts with the new Super-Chief fall back on standard portrayals of Native Americans and are therefore mildly disturbing. Never mind that I don't think we need a new character at this point. The parts with Magnus were very weird, and a bit confusing. On the whole a good issue with some rough patches.

Detective Comics 824 - A night at the Iceberg Lounge, featuring Bruce, Lois Lane, the Penguin, the Riddler, Zatanna, two thugs and one magician. A solid plot is made stronger by some excellent characgter work and a storng sense of humor. Dini's best issue yet.

Nightwing 125 - While Dick ponders his future, he squares off against a new bad guy and meets yet another pretty girl. We happily if warily welcome 80s legends Marv Wolfman and Dan Jurgens to the fold, and get a story that is coherent, somewhat witty, and very much in the style of the old days. It's enjoyable, but backwards-looking. Still, it beats Bruce Jones.

Doctor Strange 1 - Someone has shot the Sorcerer Supreme. Come along with Brian Vaughan and Marcos Martin and find out why. A strong script and great art make this wrth reading, even if you don't care much for the arrogant Dr. Strange. BKV can do no wrong these days, it would seem.

OK, so this means I'm looking forward to 52 and Detective, and I may pick up Nightwing again.

But seriously, Skeets has been AWOL for almost a month now. What's he up to?

*facepalm*

You mean today was WOLFMAN WRITING NIGHTWING WEDNESDAY and I forgot to to go the comics shop? (Clearly, my brain can only hold one fandom at a time).

Will pick it up tomorrow. Feh. It's not my fault; I've recently been conditioned to not care when the book comes out. Which is sad.

Haven't read 52 or Y: The Last Man yet, but completely agree with you about Nightwing. Still going to be cautious about the retro-ness of it, but I'm so glad Jones is gone.

Also couldn't believe the last issue of Neverwhere was FINALLY out. I'd given up on it.

Plus, my comic shop finally received my special order for the first Kabuki graphic novel. Been meaning to read it for years, and now I finally can.
