Here is an article from yesterday's NY Times about Jack Larson and Noel Neill, who played Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane on the 1950s Superman series opposite George Reeves. (REgistration required, as usual.) It's especially fascinating to see what Larson went through in first escaping and then once again embracing Jimmy Olsen. (Fans of Lois & Clark will even recall that Larson played an artificially aged Jimmy in a fourth season episode written by Tim Minear.)
I have a soft spot for the old Superman series. It was low-budget, often silly, and not very well acted. But Reeves, Neill and Larson were the right people for the parts at that time. I'm glad that Larson and Neill get to bask in the glow of all things Super once again, and that Bryan Singer used them well in their cameos in the new film.
