Urban Wildlife

On my way to morning prayers, at about 6:20 am, I saw a possum on the grounds of my apartment complex. I wasn't quite sure what it was, but a googlesearch revealed that there are indeed possums amidst the NYC urban wildlife.

How cool is that? Earlier this year I saw a raccoon and now a possum. I wouldn't necessarily want one hanging around my house - no pun intended, Mr. Possum - but it's nice to see that nature still lives nearby.

Wow, I don't ever think I've seen a possum in real life before. Did it look like you expected it to? Had you seen one before?

I wasn't entirely sure it was a possum. I thought it was, based on cartoon representations and childhood visits to the zoo, but didn't know for sure till I looked it up on the Web. Indeed, I didn't know NYC was home to possums for sure till I checked. Interestingly, the cartoon version is only mildly cuter than the real thing.
