So, any of you who were at OVFF know that Bob Kanefsky unveiled a new filk of Tom Smith's lovely "Falling Free," but that Tom was not there for the horror. I kept wondering just how Tom would react. I saw the headline: Parodist Bludgeoned With Guitar!!
Well, here's what Tom said on his site today...
"Now I'm really sorry I missed OVFF. Award-winning lyricist, parody master, and all-around Gentle Soul of Wit Bob Kanefsky has a parody of "Falling Free" that flat-out rocks. Even those of you who aren't Babylon 5 fans should get a chuckle or six out of "Six Transit Genitalia Centauri"."
As tickled as Tom may be, though, I do so wish I had seen his face when he saw or heard this song for the first time.
Tom's site - updated weekly - is at www.tomsithonline.com, and Bob's site is at www.songworm.com. So if you really want to see what Bob has done to Tom's once-charming tune, it's all there. Be warned that it is a tad bawdy, but no more so that the source material. (Assuming that what Jordan told me about Bab-5 is accurate, JMS is one sick pup.)
