Veronica Mars Thought

Totally spoilered, and unusually harsh (for me), so beware...
(Edited for content, BTW)
Veronica deserves to go to jail for her role in the kidnapping of Lilly Kane II. Even if you think that Duncan was right in taking his daughter, he and Veronica committed a federal felony. And the law does not usually look aside in a case like this, when no proof of Meg's parents unfitness was ever offered in an appropriate forum.
Veronica is guilty.
And I am afraid that she will get away with it. Something that could make me enjoy this otherwise sterling TV show a lot less. I can live with heroes who break the law. But I cannot accept heroes who break it (or act as if above the law) and then don't accept responsibility for what they did. Fact is, I can see Veronica willingly going to jail to protect Duncan and to show that she understands there is a cost. But I can't see Rob Thomas doing that. It would be too radical a shift in direction, if nothing else.
Yes, Veronica is paying a price by losing her father's trust and her relationship with Duncan. But I have to hope there is more to happen to her. She committed a crime, and she needs to face the consequences. It's what I have come to expect from this show.

Of course, this way, Duncan is off the show which isn't a bad thing.
