Music, Music, Music?
Jul. 1st, 2005 11:43 amOK. As noted in the last episode of my blog, I have Internet radio at work now. I can access stations through Launch, ITunes, and pretty much any other service.
So can anyone recommend...
1) A good commercial free folk station?
2) An eclectic classic rock station?
3) A station that would be a good place for someone hopeless out of touch with current rock to catch up?

Date: Jul. 1st, 2005 03:57 pm (UTC)WUMB-FM for folk, via http://www.live365.com/stations/wumb919fast
http://www.live365.com/profiles/classicrockrocks is pretty decent for classic rock.
WFUV-FM (which has lousy streaming audio, alas) was pretty good when I lived in NYC for current music.
Live365.com is free if you're willing to listen to ads, and has a nominal yearly charge if you aren't.

Date: Jul. 3rd, 2005 11:31 pm (UTC)You might want to get WinAmp (http://www.winamp.com) and use their ShoutCast Radio finder -- just open up the Media Library, click on "SHOUTcast radio" in the Online Media section, and bunches of stations will pop up. In the upper right corner, there's a dropdown menu for "Genre" that will filter the stations for you.
