This week's reviews are dedicated to Jim Beard, who reviews comics for ComicsBulletin.com, and who has reviewed every single issue of both 52 and Countdown, on time every week for two years. He kept going with Countdown even though he hated most of it, thus saving me and many other fans time and money, at the cost of his own time and sanity. Thanks, Jim, and may Trinity be more like 52 and less like Countdown.

Batman 675 - Bruce's latest date with Jezebel Jet goes awry. As Batman comics by Morrison go, this one was a lot less odd that usual. No strange new revelations, no unexpected takes on old ideas, and a rather straightforward plot. But also not a lot that stands out, plus some really weak art by a guest artist named Ryan Benjamin. The result is a mixed bag, not the inspired madness of last month or "The Club of Heroes," and not the mess we get just often enough to make me wonder about Morrison. However, this is all just the lead-in to the epic "Batman RIP" story beginning next month. So I will be able to tell you in six months whether or not what we saw here worked.

Fables 72 - Cinderella's mission to bring Pinocchio home continues, with more complications and a big twist. Good action adventure storytelling intermingled with the events leading to the big three-part Fables War story that will "change everything. Really." Not much to say, though. Just read it.
