Supernatural Special

sdelmonteThis refers to something at the start of last night's ep, so I am cut-tagging.
So, Supernatural fans, how many of you wondered what was up with the spinning rainbow "Special" logo last night? If you are my age, you know what that was. If you are younger, you might not.
Back in the day, the networks used to make sure you knew that your favorite show was preempted. ("Happy Days will not be seen tonight so we may show you the following special.") I think they still do this when there is a State of the Union address. CBS used to announce their specials not with a voiceover but that logo.
And of course, "special" was most likely to mean the holiday fare we get at this season. It meant Rudolph. or Frosty. Or, above all else, Charlie Brown. CBS was THE network for such things.
So when I saw that logo, revived by the CW from its C-half, I was quite delighted. (Unlike Willow, I didn't have to go elsewhere to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special.) It set the tone perfectly.
