It's Another Seananite Meme - Hide!
Jun. 10th, 2002 09:19 amI can't resist these, God help me.
I am happiest when...
I'm with Batya, enjoying her company, perhaps deep in conversation, perhpas just reading.
I feel lonely when...
The office is empty and there's som edepressing news story rattling around my head.
The ideal relationship would be...
With Batya, silly.
What makes you cry?
The thought of children in distress. When I see a strange baby crying in the street, its mother or father not stopping to comfort it, it gets to me.
That, and the cartoon deaths of Dan Turpin on "Superman" and Dinobot on "Beast Wars."
Do you think too much?
Of course. I'm thinking RIGHT NOW!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Tough one. My theology says Israel, and occasionally my heart does too. My head says in a big house at the end of a bus route in Queens that would keep me close to Manhattan but in a nice nieghborhood.
Name one famous person that you would like to meet.
I haven't a good answer. Too many possibilities. Can I pass?
Do you believe in organized religion?
As an Orthodox Jew, I think the answer to that is obvious.
Pro-life or pro-choice?
Pro-choice. I consider this to be a matter of freedom of religion as mucha s anything. Today, we can't allow abortions because these religions don't allow it. Tomorrow, they will say I can't do something else that is required by Jewish law. Never mind that I don't think men should be able to tell women what to do with their bodies. (Not that I approve of abortion per se. Sometimes it's necessary, sometimes it repulses me. But that can be said for many things that we cannot ban under law.)
Are you a vegetarian?
No.
Do you support the death penalty?
No. It doesn't deter. It's used for far too many blacks and far too few whites. It serves a petty revenge, nothing more. But I also won't shed a tear when it's used, and won't protest if and when the US executes a terrorist, or when a confessed serial killer goes to the chair. But just because a fiend deserves to die is not a reason we should kill.
Do angels or demons exist?
Angels do, as limited servants of God. Demons, no.
What would you most like to be doing right now?
Sleeping in. The last week long enough that I think i've earned that. Maybe.
Do you have any regrets?
I regret not going to a better college many years ago. I regret spending so much money on bad books and music and video games when I was younger.
Sex or love?
I like Seanan's answer so much I'm stealing it: "Love. Above all things, love."
Favourite scent?
The freshly mowed grass at a baseball field. Followed by the smell of just-baked cookies.
What makes you really, really angry?
Inconsistent service in restaurants and takeout places. I just stormed out of a coffee palce because after two weeks of paying $1.50 for decaf iced coffee, they decided to charge me $1.75, after not having any iced tea? OK, it's petty, but I used to be able to buy an iced tea every day for a buck, and now I can't. Darn, I'm ranting, aren't I?
Favourite way to waste time? Posting on the Net.
If you won $50,000,000, what would you do with it?
Doante $5 million to many worthy causes. Buy a big house. Buy a big library. Quit my job and spend a year writing and studying Talmud.
What is your best quality?
I'm funny. Really.
Are you currently in love or lust?
Oh, both. And that's all I'm gonna say. This is a family journal, dontcha know.
What's the craziest thing you've ever done?
Going rollerblading once around Central Park when I barely know what i'm doing on blades. Lucky I didn't break anything, or anyone.
Any bad habits?
Many.
Do you find it hard to trust people?
Not as hard as I used to. Like is too short not to trust a least a few close friends.
Do you ever doubt yourself?
Again, here's a good answer from Seanan "Um, yes. Doesn't everyone? I thought it came with free will and a sense of touch."
Bath or shower?
Shower.
Favourite season?
Autumn. The leaves turn that wonderful series of colors. The summer heat is gone. The fall holidays come in (assuming they don't come early, in the case of Rosh Hashanah, etc.) The World Series rolls around, as do new episodes of Buffy. And the days are just the right lenghth to enjoy both night and day.
Favourite flavour?
Peanut butter
Favourite time of day? Between 8 and 10 am, when I'm fully charged but the rest of the world is drowsy enough to leave me be.
Gold or silver?
Platinum.
Silk sheets or cotton?
Never had silk sheets, so cotton by default.
Any secret crushes?
Not these days. Oh sure, I find many women to be attractive, but Batya is the one I love and want. Assuming, of course, that Alison Hannigan doesn't come to work here. (Um, just kidding, Batya. Really. Dear, put that heavy book down...)
If you could be the opposite sex for one day, would you do it?
Too weird to contemplate. Next question.
What do you desire most in life?
Contentment, family, comfort, security, love, good friends, and intellectual challenges.
Do you believe in destiny?
Yes. The way that Batya and I ended up together boggles the mind. But I also believe in an active and involved God, so perhaps destiny is the wrong word.
Is world peace attainable?
Not without supernatural means. I think the best we can hope for is world stability.
