The New 52 - Week Three
Sep. 21st, 2011 06:36 pmQuick takes:
Batman: Script as good as expected. Good news, as Snyder does as well with Bruce as he did with Dick. Art is a bit hit and miss, though. I bet that we see Francesco Francavilla back with Snyder in six months. In any case, worth your time.
Captain Atom: Whoever this guy is, he's not the character I know and love. Not even close. It's as if Krul read selected issues of old Capt Atom stories and a Wiki listing or two. It's not a bad comic, but there's no real hook here other than "it's quirky." Does read better the second time, though. But I doubt I will be back next month.
Green Lantern Corps: Great art, good character play, but at once too bloody and sort of bloodless in the scenes that set up the conflict. Tomasi usually tells his stories this way, though, so I bet in six months I am much happier. (Though I wonder if this slips back to trade-waiting then.)
Nightwing: Standard issue Nightwing story, almost no different from the sort of thing Chuck Dixon used to do, just in Gotham instead of Bludhaven. Fun, great art, but will anyone not already into NW care?
One observation: All of these are pretty new reader friendly.
