OVFF was kinda awesome. Got to hear a good variety of performers and a good mix of music, and got to see a lot of friends. I am feeling much more like myself than I have in a while, and all the warm wishes and hugs meant the world to us. Thanks to everyone in our filk family!

Well, for a few months, at any rate. As seen at Newsarama, King was approached by a writer named Scott Snyder to help with a new comic called "American Vampire." King was intrigued and will write one of two stories that will run in the first five issues of the comic. This is King's first script for comics, despite a lifelong love of the medium and despite allowing others to write his characters in recent adaptations.

I can't say whether I'll get this comic - I'm sorta bored with vamps - but it's still a pretty big deal that King will be doing this.

As a Mets fan, I cannot have picked a less enticing World Series than the Yankees versus the Phillies. The team I love to hate most versus the Mets' divisional rival. Part of me wants to hide for two weeks till the victory parade is over.

But as a baseball fan, I love this matchup. The two best teams are meeting, and on paper they match up well, with a Game One pitching showdown between the two hottest pitchers in baseball. If only the weather holds up.

And as a New Yorker...well, I really cannot quite get myself to root for the Yankees. But I know a lot of people who are Yankees fans and who aren't obnoxious about it. And I know that a World Series boosts the economy a little. So I can take a Yankees win. I think.

What's more, I think that all New York sports fans are united in their dislike of all of Philadelphia's teams and their fans, known for throwing snowball at Santa Claus. And this Sunday, hours before Game Four of the World Series at the baseball park in Philly, the Giants will play their hated foes, the Eagles, just next door at the local football field. So if nothing else, this is a rare opportunity for all New Yorkers to come together just two days before we elect a mayor and show Philly what we really think.

Which is to say, I think that sometimes sports gets just a little silly, and I get why so many of you think I'm nuts for being a fan. To which I say, "I'm a Mets fan. Of course I'm nuts."
