Things

- Passover is eight days away. From now till then I am either racing the clock at work to get things done (as I am taking off the two days the offices are open, and thus will be away for eight days), or trying to figure out what we need to do to get ready at home (which includes cleaning but also some ancillary things that involve family obligations of one sort or another).

- This means, parenthetically, that I will be falling behind on most of my TV shows for the next three weeks. I am actually glad that Supernatural is a rerun next week, and that there is only the Dr. Who Easter special rather than the ongoing series. So consider this a friendly reminder to be careful with those spoilers.

- I am currently watching five series. Two - Dollhouse and Life - are iffy at best for renewal. One, Kings, is not only doomed but likely to be pulled very soon. All are very good, if not in the same league as the other two, Lost and Supernatural. And all are emblematic of where I think the networks are going. There is just no room for anything remotely different in tight times, and there seems to be very little audience in the first place. I suspect that come next fall, I will not have anything to replace the shows that go away (lacking cable and having no intention to pay for it anytime soon). And I bet that not even cable will try to do anything like Lost for a long time. So I will savor the shows I have while I can.

- Baseball season starts Monday. I hope to get to the new stadiums this season - I already have arranged to go with a friend to the new Yankee Stadium - and I am as hopeful as ever that the Mets will do something right. But I don't think they are as good as the Phillies. This time around, they won't be able to blow the lead in September. I'll just settle for "playing their hearts out and not finding new ways to lose."

- Flash: Rebirth - the miniseries that brings Barry Allen back to the DC Universe for more than just a cameo - comes out tomorrow. I will endeavor to review it, but am going in with trepidation. Geoff Johns is probably the best writer for this job, but I still need to be convinced that the job needs to be done.

That's it for now.
