In case you missed it, the big news this morning from JPL is that the Cassini probe has found evidence of a geyser on Saturn's moon Enceladus, which could mean: a) there is water there; and b) there is a warm spot on this moon capable of supporting some form of life.

For more, see...

Meanwhile, let's wish good luck to JPL as later today the ltest Mars orbiter attempts to enter orbit. 2/3rds of such porbes have failed to do so, so clearly JPL's techies are holdin g theri collective breathe. With any luck, Marvin won't be angry today.

I normally don't care about who is dating whom in Hollywood. But I get a kick out of the news that Teri Hatcher is dating George Clooney?

Why?

Lois Lane is dating Batman.

Boy, Supes must be jealous.

Guess I finally found things to say today, with three posts so far.

The following article is the most cogent and well-thought-out article I've read yet by a sportswriter about Barry Bonds, steroids, and sports. It is not full of the moralistic nonsense that clouds the debate over steroids, and seems to be written by someone who's been to the real world.

I love sports, and love reading good sportwriting. But sportswriters make lousy writers of hard news. Most tend to see things in shades of black and white. Thankfully, Patrick Hruby of espn.com's Page 2 - like most of the iconoclasts of that website - sees shades of gray.

Oh, and his feelings about steroids are exactly my own.
