Primary Concerns
Sep. 14th, 2005 04:37 pmSo yesterday was the Democratic primary for mayor of NYC. You would thin that in a city with something like 4 million Democrats, there would be oen decent candidate for mayor.
There wasn't. Only four people ran, and none of them seem qualified to be anything as important as mayor of this city.
So I did something a bit silly. I wrote in Mike Bloomberg.
And in November, I am going to do something I have never done. I'm going to vote for a Republican, again Mike Bloomberg. Sadly, my party just seems lost in a city where it should be a powerhouse. And strangely, Bloomberg - despite being attached to a party that I despise - seems like a good choice and a good mayor. I wish he wold renounce the affiliation with the GOP he took only to get elected, but I can accept that by almost every non-NYC standard he is almsot a liberal.
But I wish it wasn't coming to this. And I hope that over the next four years, the Democrats find someone with the fire and the skill to win and then to do the job well.
sigh
