So after I got home from Lunacon and settled in last night, I sat in front of the TV and watched The Simpsons for the first time this season. As many of you know, I love this show but no longer watch new episodes of it. It's not worth the time anymore.

But I was tired and put up little resistance. The episode was Homer and Marge fighting, something that we've seen so often I don't know why she DOESN'T throw him out forever. It wasn't bad, not like most sitcoms. It was flavorless.

Just like the new hotel for Lunacon is flavorless, compared to the old one, commonly known as the Hotel Escher due to its odd configuration.

So I thought to myself that this show hasn't jumped the shark so much as it's left the Hotel Escher.

This is my phrase of the day: When something has "left the Hotel Escher," it has become much more bland than it was, though some of its old quality remains in there somewhere. I think a lot more TV shows have done this anyway. Buffy didn't ever jump the shark - it still had a lot going for it and was better than most shows. But perhaps in its last two seasons, it not only left the WB, it also left the Hotel Escher?

Use this new phrase as you like. Or ignore it. The choice is yours.

(And you can tell that I must still be tired if I think this witty. Perhaps I too have left the Hotel Escher?)
