1. Two TV shows that pass in the night...
While Firefly becomes better and better, John Doe has gone from promising to cliched in rapid time. The most recent episode, despite some touches that are unique to this show, and some good acting, was a Jessica Fletcher cliche-fest. And truth be told, those unique touches were straight out of McGyver. While the show is still entertaining, it has lost whatever seemed to make it a keeper at first. Why it's still out-rating Firefly is beyond me.

But Firefly has hit new heights with its latest hour. Great acting, great script, and real suspense. Hard to believe I was ready to write this off at first. But as we say, Trust Joss.

2. Angel
Trust Joss, but not in terms of Angel. We finally saw the last episode, and all the reports were true. Which is to say, it stunk. Weak plots, horrid character play, and a total lack of suspense. Plus the wrong apocalypse. This show has stumbled badly without Greenwalt and Minear to guide it. And the echoes of a similar Big Bad on Buffy make this all the worse to watch. Only the promise of the return of Faith and an episode to be directed by Sean Astin might make this still worth watching.

More later...
