Spoilers? Of course...

52, Week 12 - Renee and No-Face make travel plans. Black Adam, under the beneficial sway of his prisoner-turned-guest, makes plans for her and visits a not-particularly-stable Captain Marvel. And the Cult of Conner makes plans of a creepy nature. This was a fairly quiet issue, trading in fights for conversations. A little slow at point, but it's interesting watching Adam try to move beyond the bluster and violence that's difned him till now. Not a great issue, but a readable one. Also, we get a two-page origin for Wonder Woman that is very pretty but says almost nothing. I expected more.

Batman 655 - The first issue by Grant Morrison, and why am I not surprised that it's weird and not entirely coherent? Some good bits here, but also some really confusing ones. Since I'm loving his work in 52 and All-Star Supes, I will give this a chance. But the ride might be bumpy. I suspect that we might be getting a Bizarro version of the "Hush" story.

Astro City: Samaritan Special - The secret tale of Samaritan and his arch-enemy Infidel, revealed at last! Busiek and Anderson are in form in this very impressive outing, channeling (as always) ideas and characters from Marvel and DC but always doing something new. I really wish that Busiek would spend less time playing in other people's sandboxes and stick with the Astro City books. His Marvel work has been great, as have his Conan stories, but when he's at home with his creations, he's just that much better.

DC Nation - Normally, I don't comment about Dan Didio's weekly column in DC's comics. But this week, he explain for the first time how he thinks of Nightwing as redundant, why he wanted to see NW killed in InfCrisis, how his understimated the fan base Dick has, and how he's trying to fix Dick so that he's more important to the DCU. Have to say, I don't think I've ever seen an editor show such lack of understanding about a character. It's as if Didio has never read anything with Dick in it. I don't mind seeing Dick play a big role in the next round of Cosmic Happenings - he's earned that privilege. I can't object if Marv Wolfman gets to write NW for a spell to further this goal. But I think this is a slap in the face to Chuck Dixon, who did a great job defining Dick, and even to Marv, who made him more than just an ex-Robin or Batman wannabee. Didio, as usual, is not filling me with confidence.

One of last week's comics that I picked up -- I forget which one -- actually had this week's DC Nation column, so I already got to read his opinion on Nightwing.

I do think that the character needs to be reinvented.

I agree that Dick Grayson deciding to be a cop was brilliant.

You know what I'd like to see, what I think would work? Dick Grayson as a circus acrobat, roaming the country to solve crimes.
