Holy Post Office, Batman!

Next year, the US post office will be issuing a series of 20 stamps featuring ten DC Comics heroes, one stamp a close-up of the hero, the other a cover from a comic. The art will be taken from the comics, and will include such artists as Carmine Infantino, Neal Adams, Jim Aparo and Jim Lee.

The heroes? Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Flash (Barry Allen), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Plastic Man, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and Hawkman (Katar Hol). Once again, J'Onn J'Onzz is left out despite being an original JLAer.

Oddly, seven of the ten are eligible to be stamps as you have to be dead first (if you are a real preson, that is). Only Aquaman, Plastic Man and Batman haven't been dead at least for some time in the current DC continuity (and if you count the Earth-2 Batman, that's one more).

Clearly this is a joint effort of the USPS and DC. I have to wonder if the post office received a call today from Marvel, proposing a similar series with Spidey, Hulk, et al.

I'd count being dispersed into component particles and having to reassemble one's self as close enough to dead for government purposes.

Problem: if I buy these stamps, I will find myself unable to use them (and I just don't want to get started on stamp collection, I have enough hobbies that cost money thanks). So I probably won't buy any.

But...oooh, shiny.
