Four Pages Into The New Issue of Buffy...

I stopped reading. The comic, having gone from Great to Good to Bland to Bad in the past three years, finally arrived at Annoying. And I just quit. I have never done that with any comic, even ones that were much worse.

It's possible - even probable - that Batya will enjoy this issue. But I am done with this series. All the things that went wrong at the end of the TV series are coming back. And they are not worth 3 cents, let alone 3 dollars.

I sorta liked canon Andrew, but felt that the last times we saw him - on
Angel - he was growing up. Batya built on that. Joss and Co. haven't. Indeed, my biggest problem with the comic is that there has been very little sign of character growth from anyone.

And if you're right about that (and I think you are), that's pretty solid evidence--if anyone still needed any--that Joss has left the Buffyverse firmly behind.
