Flash: Rebirth 2
The second issue of Flash: Rebirth is here and I am not as happy as I'd wanted to be. At all.
Here is what I posted on Geoff Johns' message boards: I'll be blunt: I don't like the parade of retcons (though the new meet-cute for Barry and Iris was well done). I don't like that Barry's parents have been turned into the latest Tragedy to Motivate the Hero - why can't he be a hero because it's heroic? Why do we need a retcon to explain the bowtie? Either ignore it, or accept that Barry was a square.
All of this, plus the darkness of the story, plus Barry being something of a cold jerk instead of the Barry I know and love, is rubbing me the wrong way. Even though there does seem to be a good story in here somewhere. Even though the ending does go a long way to explaining why Barry feels like he does. Even though I like how Barry can have a life and a job again (and how I immediately like Capt. Frye).
I am still on board for now. This isn't a bad comic by any means. But it's not particularly fun, either, and I have come to expect something like fun from my Flash comics over the years. I am still hoping that when we it's all done, the fun is back. For now, though, I am not feeling it.

Technically, they aren't his anymore but he is there a lot and most of the people who post there are Johns fans above all else.

I'm not hating the book as much as you seem to be (I know that hate may be too strong a word), but I'm not yet feeling that it's momentous enough. I mean, Barry Allen is back! There should be more excitement in the air.
