NBC Prolongs the Agony

So you have heard that NBC was announcing its fall schedule today, two weeks ahead of the other networks. Well, they did. Sort of.

They announced the new shows we'll be offered, including two medical dramas, a TV show based on the old film Parenthood (didn't we already have that in the 90s?) and a weird SF show called "Day One," wherein something goes Really Wrong with the Earth, and the survivors have to figure out what. (I'll say this for NBC - at least they really do want to find a SF show that people will watch.)

But they haven't decided what to do with several older shows. Including Chuck and Life. So fans of those shows - and I am among fans of the latter - are left hanging again, for at least another couple of weeks.

I should be glad that this wasn't an instant cancellation. It implies there's hope. But this does seem cruel.

ETA: Life is over after all. Alas, alas. At least the show got to have a great finale that wrapped up just enough to give us some closure. But I will miss Crews and Reese a lot.

Unfortunately there'll be no word on Chuck until the 19th.

It's a nicely done show. I will be disappointed if it is not renewed.

Fast Forward is based on Rob Sawyer's excellent novel. (A novel is defined as excellent if my name is in the acknowledgments.)

I suspect that part of the reason they moved it back is that their executive director in charge of dramatic programming literally dropped dead a few days ago.

I'm going to miss Life. A lot.
