OVFF and More
First, the paradigm shift: Yesterday I was at OVFF in Columbus. It was the end of the weekend. Today I am back home and getting ready for the last two days of the fall Jewish holiday cycle, having just come home from two hours at my synagogue. Amazing how sometimes you need to shift modes at the blink of an eye.
A great con deserves a great con report. Alas, I am too tired to produce such a thing, but this year's OVFF was great! How so? I will provide some examples...
- The three concerts I was at were great. The Pegasus concert was loads of fun. Frank Hayes was just what you would expect from such a legendary figure. And
cadhla was amazing. Indeed, she did a wonderful job as toastmistress, performer and Interfilk wench.
- Best Interfilk auction ever.
- Got to talk with so many friends. Some were people I hadn't seen in a year, people I've missed. Others - including many of cadhla's pack of friends - were new to me. And a few are just people that I like to see. It was wonderful to talk to all of you, to help acclimate filk newbies to the con, to catch up on things, to learn stuff I didn't know, to just have fun. I hope to see all of you again soon, and at OVFF of course.
- The sukkah was a great success. Yes, it rained a bit but we still got to use it. And got to give people who might not have used one otherwise a chance to do so. Special thanks to the Clarion for letting us have it on the grounds.
- Got to actually sing a little in circle. I don't often do that at OVFF, so that was quite nice.
I'm sure there is very much more I can say, but right now it isn't coming to me. Guess I will have to let the memories sift themselves as OVFF gives way to the holiday, and then as the holiday season ends and work becomes what it usually is.
PS: Haven't been at Milliways for a week, and to my surprise I don't feel its tug nearly as much as I thought. No, friends, I am not quitting. But it;'s nice to know that I can manage without it. I guess there really is life outside my apartment. :)
