Officially, all officer positions are open to anyone in the shul who wants to run. But in the years I've been there, no one has ever run for any of them without being recruited by the outgoing board. And there are five or six people who take turns serving as officers.

So come election night, there is a single slate of candidates. We almost had a real race for corresponding secretary, but the newbie dropped out before the vote.
