...which indicates that the radiant Ben Browder will be joining the cast of Stargate SG-1 for its ninth season.

On the down side, I still have trouble with Stargate simply because it stayed while Farscape was cancelled. And this seems to indicate that there are no plans to do anything more with Farscape if Browder is free to do this.

On the up side, Stargate is a fairly watchable and entertaining SF series, with a fairly strong cast, and it will apparently need someone to replace Richard Dean Anderson. So why not get the best? It's good to see that Browder is being given a steady paycheck by the network that took away his last one. And I suspect I won't be the only 'Scaper who will want to watch just because Ben is there.

Of course, if it were up to me, I'd have John Crichton join the cast. :)

Stargate is enjoyable. Solid, consistent, not shiny and manic and utter freakin' genius like Farscape. But it had moments of shine, the cast is amazing, the writing is solid with thoughtful characterization (the character development is like watching grass grow, but the characters are three-dimensional, real seeming folks where you could tell who said what even if all the names were removed and you saw a page of script.)

They say Anderson might be back for a handful of episodes. Imagine: Ben Browder and Richard Dean Anderson acting together
