Arisia, held on MLK Day weekend, is known for being younger and quite out there in some ways. It tends to get a large alt-lifestyle crowd, though I have heard varying opinions about how visible the scene is. It also has one of the most well regarded masquerades on the East Coast and a lively costume community.

Boskone, from what I saw in 2008, is older and more staid. Few hall costumes, no masquerade, and a sense that a good percentage of the people there were there in 1977.

Otherwise, programming tends to be similar, and both cons are less moribund that Lunacon.

We are going partially because Seanan is the GoH, partially because we happen to have a family event in Sharon on Monday morning. I think I might want to try Arisia someday, but it always seems to coincide with something else that weekend or in the same month.
