This Week's Comics - 52
Batman was delayed. Legion was delayed. And the Johns-Donner Action looks kinda bleh. So it's just 52...
52, Week 25 - For the first times, the seams are showing, as this issue uses four pencilmen and five inkers. The art is still pretty good - Jimenez can do no wrong - but I hope this is an aberration. Multiple artists on one series is already risky (if necessary). Multiple arits on a given issue can just make a muddle of things.
Though given how much is going on here, the artists didn't need any help making a muddle. We have:
- Intergang in Gotham, taking over
- The Marvels and the Black Adams in Boston, fighting a demon on Halloween
- Ralph and the Helmet of Fate in Hell, learning the tale of Felix Faust
- Infinity, Inc. fighting the curret Icicle and Tigress, and unveiling their new member
- Alan Scott recruiting Mr. Terrific into Checkmate
- Oolong Island, where we find that Intergang is charge, and where a plan for handling Black Adam is launched
No one elemet is badly handled. Indeed, the tale of Faust is nice and creepy, and we are seeing the big plots moving along. But nothing stood out here, either. I would say this issue is merely a nice read, nothing more.
And no Skeets, Michael.
I do love the cover, though, with kids costumed as Steel, Booster Gold and the Question, and with one kid using the Helmet of Fate as his candy box./lj-cut>
