RIP Tony Jay

Actor Tony Jay, best known for his roles on Beauty and the Beast and Lois and Clark, and for a myriad of roles as a voice actor, has passed on.

Some here will no doubt recall his voice most from Hunchback of Notre Dame, where he played Frollo. But many will remember him as I do, as the voice of Shere Khan in Disney's TaleSpin series. He was the perfect man to play that show's combnation of the savage tiger and the modern suave businessman.

The terrific Ed Gilbert passed away a few years ago. As did Phil Harris, who originally voiced Baloo in the Disney Jungle Book movie. George Sanders, who was the original Shere Khan, is gone as well.

The voice(s) of Baloo and the voice(s) of Shere Khan are all gone. All of them. :(

Tony Jay was terrific on-screen and with voice work.

Sad now.
