What sort of balance is needed between new and educational,
comfortable and familiar, and just plain pandering to the latest trends? Can a
Con do all three well?
AW: I'm not entirely sure what this will actually be about, but as I know who these people are, and as Meredith is the moderator, it should be interesting.
Saturday: 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Lost: Science and Reason vs. Faith
How does the show Lost
use conflicts between such characters as Jack vs. Locke to debate this eternal
philosophical tug-of-war. (Is Hurley crazy for believing that the Numbers are
cursed, or is he right? What is the role of Claire's baby - savior, shaman, or
just an innocent child caught in the wrong place at the wrong time? Was the
episode with Charlie's dreams a valid religious allegory or a clumsy attempt at
cheesy mysticism? Are they setting up some kind of conflict between Baby Aaron
and young Walt's creepy powers?)
AW: I get to talk about Lost! And about religion, though I am not sure what I will have to say. Any input from the Lost fandom on my f-list will be welcome. Also, I don't know any of these people, so the cynamic might be odd.

The Year in Comics
What are the trends in comics over the past year? How are
changes in the industry affecting cartoonists, editors, and readers?
AW: The panel I wait for every year, though I wonder if it will be the same since Bob Greenberger was unfairly fired by DC. I expect that Bob and Glenn will be their usual selves either way. Obviously, I plan to talk about Infinite Crisis, One Year Later, 52, and maybe a bit of Marvel.

The Fanzine of the Future
How are fanzines and fannish publishing ventures adjusting
to the digital age? Are they adapting, or fading from fan culture?
AW: The required Panel About Which I Know Nothing. I will talk about blogs and the Net and how they have driven away fanzines, I think. Again, input is welcome.
