Inception is , IMO, the best Philip K. Dick film ever made. Even though it's not based on a PKD story and even though there have been some other really good PKD films.

But Nolan plays with a lot of the same things that PKD did, uses current filmmaking technology as well as a great cast, and generates a film that, while not perfect, is smart and well written and often visionary. It's good to know that Hollywood can still make something like this, that not everything has to be a remake of a sequel and dumbed down to boot.

I will add that I didn't find this at all confusing, and the critics who though the film was technically strong but emotional uninvolved were at a different movie than I saw today.

There is more to say. For now, I am just happy that Inception exists.

Hear, hear!

So I wasn't the only one who got a Philip K. Dick feel from the movie! Nice to know. It was much better than the last one I saw that actually was a PKD movie, which I think was Minority Report.

I would also say that this movie has definitely made me much more of a Nolan fan - I am far more likely now to go see a movie based on his name only.

I was actually reminded of Minority Report at several points during this movie -- not in content, but in I guess style. Certain pieces of recurring imagery. (Mind you, I loved Minority Report.)

I want to see it again. Nolan's so good at doing layers and finding amazing casts.

Oh, very good call. Phildickian indeed.

My read is that it's probably a good movie, best appreciated with one's hand on the pause and rewind buttons to give you time to figure out WTF just happened.
